Radiography Support Worker

Radiography Support Workers work as part of the Cross Sectional imaging team, providing an efficient and high quality imaging service 24/7, whilst dealing with patients in a caring professional manner. The Support Worker will be expected over time, to develop skills and experience in a range of areas both clinically and administratively. They will be supported throughout this time by the Clinical Department Manager and Clinical Lead Radiographers.

Main duties of the job
  • To participate in the safe transfer of patients and equipment within the department and hospital respectively, using manual handling guidelines and risk assessment after undergoing the relevant training.
  • To provide assistance to qualified staff before, during and after imaging examinations undertaken in the department - such a cannulating and prepping patients etc.
  • To effectively liaise with all disciplines of staff within the Radiology department and Hospital, giving support where necessary.
  • To undertake general housekeeping duties in order to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness within the Department.

Changes to the UK immigration policy introduced on the 9th April 2025, increased the minimum salary threshold for certificates of sponsorship applications for Health and Care Worker Visa from £23,200 (£11.90 per hour) to £25,000 (£12.82 per hour). Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade C-A)
  • Care Certificate either upon appointment or within 12 weeks of commencement
  • NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare or a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship
Knowledge, Training & Experience
  • Experience of working within a team and independently with and without support
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of multidisciplinary team working
  • Awareness of cultural diversity
  • To comprehend and work within the Trusts policies of data protection, confidentiality, equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of patients and staff
  • To and work within both IR(ME)R 2017 and local protocols
  • MRI safety knowledge
  • Demonstrate an interest in Radiology or similar imaging field
  • Prepared to undertake any non-mandatory courses relevant to the post
Skills & Abilities
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the service including the ability to commute between sites
