Radio Communications Technician – High Risk & Rigging

We operate nationally with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth. Our support team is available 24/7.

We are currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Radio Communications Technician to join our Field Operations Team. This role is dedicated to the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of communication systems across a range of environments including mine sites, mobile plant, vehicles, and infrastructure.

About the role:

As a critical part of the WA operational technical team, this role is a key part of the delivery of services to support our client base on-site and from our Perth workshop. As this is a customer facing role, the successful applicant must ensure that our standards of efficiency, safety and quality are maintained.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Installation, commissioning, and fault finding of communications equipment on towers, buildings, mobile plant, and vehicles.
  • Rigging and antenna installation on elevated structures at client sites including mine sites and industrial facilities.
  • Installation and testing of Voice & Data Radio systems.
  • Test, Install and Commission Wireless networks, microwave radio links, and associated IP-based equipment.
  • Installation and maintenance of DC Power Systems supporting communications infrastructure.
  • Completion of Preventative Maintenance Inspections and technical documentation including FAT/SAT reports.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure project delivery aligns with design specifications, budget, and timelines.
  • Participation in a 24/7 on-call roster to support critical communications systems.
About You:

Experienced in working at heights and performing rigging tasks in compliance with safety standards.

Comfortable working in high-risk environments including towers and remote industrial sites.

Ability to follow engineering designs to complete installation work as per design. This includes installations on towers, skids, trailers and in shelters/comms rooms.

Familiar with cable test equipment.

Able to work independently or as part of a team in metro and remote locations.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality procedures.

Willing to travel and participate in after-hours support as required.

Experience & Qualifications:
  • Cert III in Electronics and Communications or equivalent trade qualification – Essential.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in the installation and commissioning of communications systems – Essential.
  • Working at Heights and Rigging experience – Essential.
  • High Risk Work Licence – Work Platform, Rigging – Essential.
  • Construction Industry Induction Card (White/Red/Blue) – Essential.
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency – Essential.
