About The Team:

• We are seeking a professional to join our National Innovation Incentives Team in an Assistant Manager capacity. The successful candidate will support the delivery of R&D tax relief and Patent Box claims, along with wider intellectual property advisory engagements for clients across all sectors (from start-ups to owner-managed businesses and multinational organisations).
• The individual will be expected to play a core role in technical analysis, client engagement and onboarding, claim preparation (inc. technical interviews), initial reviews of work delivered by junior members of the team, and business development support. In addition, you will coach and mentor more junior staff, contribute to quality and risk management, and collaborate with other areas of the business.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead or co‑lead delivery R&D tax relief and Patent Box (depending on the level of experience) claims for Forvis Mazars clients, including develop claim methodologies, and preparing R&D tax relief claims for submission to the HMRC.
• You will be responsible for writing detailed technical descriptions of client’s projects, while preparing documentation to support R&D claims, based on UK DSIT guidelines. This will include analysing and interpreting tax legislation and R&D incentives guidance as they apply to clients’ R&D activities – including identifying eligible activities/costs, quantifying claims, documenting methodologies and liaising with clients’ technical and finance teams.
• Manage the project timeline, budget, risk, and resource allocation for less complex assignments; ensuring deliverables meet internal quality standards.
• Serve as the day‑to‑day client contact for your portfolio of engagements, including building and maintaining client relationships and responding to their queries as / when they arise.

What You’ll Bring:

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (or equivalent) in a professional services environment, particularly in relation to preparing UK R&D tax relief (and / or Patent Box) claims.
• A strong level of technical knowledge in relation to the UK R&D legislation.
• Qualified or part‑qualified (e.g., ATT, ACA, ACCA, CTA or equivalent) or strong technical background in science, technology, engineering, or software, with relevant tax or advisory experience.
