Job description

Fixed term for 21 months

NHS Fife Research & Development Department is seeking to employ a Research Nurse to increase patient recruitment into research studies across a range of specialties in Fife. We are looking to recruit this senior research nurse for an exciting and challenging post based within the R&D Department.

As a member of the NHS Fife R&D Team you will support Investigators to undertake a range of commercial and non-commercial, eligibly funded research. You will be responsible for leading a team in various aspects of study management including assisting with study approvals, set up, patient recruitment, and providing excellent clinical care, education, support and monitoring of those participants enrolled.

Additionally, you will be involved with accurate and confidential data collection, liaising with national trial centres and study monitors. You will work collaboratively with Principal and Chief Investigators and the wider multi-disciplinary teams in the management of your own caseload of research patients and studies.

The post would be ideally suited to an experienced nurse with excellent organisational and IT skills. Both extensive previous clinical experience and clinical trials work experience is essential for this Band 6 role, as is the ability to manage a number of concurrent projects.

You will have knowledge of research principles (including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent and ethical issues), and an understanding of research within the context of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice. Experience in a respiratory environment is an advantage but full training will be given.

Attention to detail and strong communication skills are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability to travel between all sites within NHS Fife is essential.
