Job summary

Matchtech recruits for an R&D Engineer role in Portsmouth. You will participate in the design, testing and development of new products while supporting improvements to existing lines and gaining exposure to the full product development lifecycle.

The position is a 3-6 month contract with a rate around £40 per hour. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential, along with a proactive, learning mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 1–3 years of engineering/product development/R&D experience
• Basic understanding of 3D CAD software
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes beneficial
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn
• Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of new products and product improvements.
• Create and update engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Support prototype builds, testing and validation activities.
• Use 3D CAD software to develop and modify product designs.
• Assist with selecting materials and manufacturing processes for new products.
• Help investigate technical issues and contribute to problem-solving activities.
• Support the transfer of products into manufacturing.
