Using advanced 3D modelling and simulation tools, you will support the development, testing, and optimisation of innovative products. This role blends hands‑on engineering, technical design, cross‑functional collaboration, and regulatory compliance to deliver high‑quality, high‑performance solutions across the O&G sector.

Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development:
  • Turn concept designs into fully engineered production models within agreed timeframes.
  • Create detailed technical manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Develop design calculations and run simulations (SolidWorks Flow Simulation and supervised simulation tools).
  • Undertake research, prototype development, and supervised testing to optimise product performance and cost.
  • Support the creation of concept designs aligned to specifications and customer requirements.
Regulatory & Compliance:
  • Maintain and manage PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) approvals to ensure product ranges remain compliant and up to date.
  • Ensure designs meet all relevant legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and PED 2014/68/EU.
Project Support & Collaboration:
  • Work to agreed task lists and seek clarification when required.
  • Liaise with Lead Engineers, Test Engineers, Production teams, Technical Analysts, and suppliers (including third‑party inspection bodies).
  • Assist with SolidWorks PDM administration and design optimisation through FEA/CFD analysis.
  • Support project control activities with Engineering and Primary Engineers.
Prototype & Testing:
  • Inspect prototypes and first‑off modifications to confirm compliance with manufacturing drawings.
  • Provide feedback to suppliers regarding NCRs or adjustments, issuing updated drawings where needed.
  • Compile and verify flow test results with support from CFD teams.
  • Witness pressure and flow testing to confirm performance.
Documentation & Approvals:
  • Prepare and organise all engineering documentation required for projects.
  • Compile PED approval packages for submission to notified bodies, including:
  • Conformity assessment module selection
  • Essential safety requirement assessments
  • Particular material appraisals
  • Design calculations and GA/manufacturing drawings
  • Procedures and Sales Data Sheets
Continuous Improvement:
  • Contribute to the improvement of systems and processes in collaboration with senior engineering personnel.
  • Support technical, R&D and project activities with a commitment to quality, safety, and environmental objectives.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Strong proficiency in 3D modelling using SolidWorks, including assemblies and configurations.
  • Experience with 2D drafting (AutoCAD or similar).
  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering (with practical industry experience).
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong capability in Physics and Mathematics.
Reporting Structure:
  • Reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
  • Works under the supervision of Lead and Primary Engineers on specific projects.
  • Collaborates closely with Test Engineers, Production staff, Technical Analysts, and the Technical Director.
