Job summary

Breedon Group is seeking a Quarry Operative to join the team at Freemans Quarry, Bristol. This permanent, full-time role reports to the Quarry Manager and will involve maintaining site safety, housekeeping and PPE compliance.

You will operate mobile plant, assist with maintenance activities, and work flexibly within the quarry team to meet objectives. A valid driving licence is required; heavy mobile plant licence is preferred, with training provided for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current driving licence.
• Heavy mobile plant licence preferred but not essential; training can be provided.
• Self-motivated, able to work alone or in a team, and flexible with patterns.
• Willingness to learn and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of housekeeping on site for safety and efficiency.
• Follow health, safety, environmental and quality procedures; promote safety culture.
• Wear PPE at all times and perform pre-start checks on mobile plant and equipment.
• Complete inspection records and report defects to site management promptly.
• Support maintenance activities and assist the maintenance team as needed.
• Operate quarry mobile plant safely, in line with training and authorisation.
• Collaborate with the quarry team and undertake other duties to meet site objectives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of site performance, safety and operations.

Location: Freemans Quarry, Bristol

Description

We are currently seeking Quarry Operative to join our team at Freemans Quarry, Bristol. This role will report directly to the Quarry Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the quarry site to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
• Follow all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures, promoting a strong safety culture.
• Wear and use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Carry out pre-start checks and daily inspections on mobile plant and equipment.
• Complete inspection records accurately and report any defects or issues to site management promptly.
• Support planned and reactive maintenance activities, working closely with the maintenance team when required.
• Operate quarry mobile plant and equipment safely and effectively, in line with training and authorisation.
• Work collaboratively as part of the quarry team, supporting colleagues and undertaking other reasonable duties to help achieve site objectives.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of site performance, safety and operational standards.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• The successful candidate must hold a current driving licence.
• A licence for heavy mobile plant is preferred but not essential. Training can be provided for the suitable candidate.
• You will be self-motivated and have the ability to work on your own or as part of a team and be available to work flexible working patterns.
• You will also have a willingness to learn and be a good communicator.
