Maxim Recruitment is assisting a specialist claims and disputes consultancy in Leeds to find a Quantum Associate Director. The role focuses on ongoing quantum expert instructions and developing a dedicated contact database, while supporting other quantum experts across multiple commissions.

The successful candidate will have a background in Quantity Surveying with a demonstrated ability to deliver commercial support and manage complex disputes, including contract administration and damages

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in quantity surveying in client or main contractor environments.
• Proven track record delivering commercial support.
• In-depth knowledge of standard forms of contract.
• Ability to develop procurement strategies and administer contracts.
• Understanding of construction law, especially damages assessment.

Responsibilities

• Forensic analysis of project accounts to identify and substantiate areas of dispute.
• Prepare written reports for dispute resolution, including mediation, adjudication and litigation.
• Represent parties or provide defence in formal dispute resolution proceedings.
• Provide commercial support on live projects, including client team oversight and strategic advice.
• Train and develop junior staff.

The successful applicant ideally will have ongoing quantum expert instructions, shall have an eagerness to develop their own contact database and a proven ability to support other quantum experts.

Responsibilities and Duties

This Quantum job vacancy is with a specialist claims and disputescompany that offers a range of specialist consultancy services to its clients who are experiencing problems in their projects and do not have the in-house expertise to resolve them favourably.

Services provided can include:

Forensic analysis of project accounts to identify and substantiate areas of dispute

The preparation of written reports for use in dispute resolution processes, including mediation, adjudication and litigation

Representation of parties or defence involvement in formal dispute resolution proceedings, including adjudication and mediation

Commercial support on live projects, including oversight of client teams and provision of strategic commercial advice

Training and development of junior staff

Desired Skills and Experience

Circa 10+ years of experience with a background in Quantity Surveying, gained within either a client-side or main contractor environment

Proven track record of delivering commercial support.

In-depth knowledge of standard forms of contract.

Proficient in developing and managing procurement strategies and contract administration

An understanding of construction law, with a particular focus on the assessment and quantification of damages

Eagerness to develop own contact database

Capable of managing multiple commissions concurrently, including overseeing and coordinating inputs from wider project teams

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

Studying towards a higher qualification in construction law or similar equivalent could be advantageous

Membership of an appropriate professional body is also advantageous
