Job summary

A leading construction contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in the water infrastructure sector. This hybrid role involves administering commercial aspects of projects, managing procurement, and providing financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have relevant degrees or extensive experience in the field, along with a strong knowledge of NEC contracts. Opportunities for long-term placement exist.

Qualifications

  • Experience in water, utilities or civil infrastructure is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, JCT, and IChemE is beneficial.
  • Proactive approach to risk and opportunity management is crucial.

Responsibilities

  • Administer commercial and financial aspects of projects.
  • Manage procurement for labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages.
  • Prepare cost and value reports, applications for payment and forecasts.

Skills

Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor - Water Infrastructure

Location: Hybrid working available
Start: ASAP
Contract: Long term with opportunity to go permanent
Rate: Negotiable

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for your next role in water infrastructure? My client, a main contractor delivering water main renewal and clean water civils projects, has an immediate opportunity to join the commercial team supporting multiple live schemes.

Responsibilities
  • Administer commercial and financial aspects of projects across the programme
  • Prepare CVRs, cost and value reports, applications for payment and forecasts
  • Manage procurement for labour, plant, materials and subcontract packages
  • Lead subcontract management from terms and risk attribution to final account
  • Manage change through Early Warnings and Variations
  • Administer the principal contract, including NEC and IChemE Burgundy Book
  • Provide VOWD and demand forecasting with robust cost control
  • Work closely with delivery teams to support safe and efficient delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve value and margin
Skills and Experience
  • Degree, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, or substantial relevant experience
  • Experience in water, utilities or civil infrastructure
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC. JCT and IChemE experience beneficial
  • Proactive approach to risk and opportunity management
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel, confident handling large data sets
  • Full UK driving licence
