Job summary

ABS Commercial Solutions is recruiting Quantity Surveyors across the UK to support a growing portfolio of utilities and infrastructure projects. This is a UK-wide opportunity with roles across multiple locations and client environments.

You will work with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers to ensure contractual compliance and effective cost management. The role offers a balance of autonomous work and collaboration with operational teams and senior stakeholders, with opportunities

Qualifications

• Experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering.
• Good understanding of post-contract commercial management and contractual processes.
• Experience with cost forecasting, change management, payments and final accounts.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with operational teams, clients and senior stakeholders.
• The flexibility to adapt to different projects, teams and client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers with day-to-day commercial management and reporting.
• Ensure contractual compliance, commercial validation and accurate financial reporting.
• Manage post-contract commercial processes, including change management, cost forecasting, payments and final accounts.
• Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Produce and maintain accurate commercial data, cost reports and contractual records.
• Support the negotiation and resolution of commercial claims, disputes and contractual issues.
• Work collaboratively with operational teams, clients and senior stakeholders to ensure commercial requirements are met.
• Assist with procurement activities, tender documentation and evaluation of commercial submissions.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks while ensuring value for money across projects.
• Attend client and commercial performance meetings as required.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Provide commercial guidance and support to colleagues, including junior team members where appropriate.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to broaden their experience, work across diverse infrastructure projects and develop their career within a supportive commercial consultancy.

Working alongside Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you'll play an important role in ensuring contractual compliance, maintaining commercial controls and supporting effective cost management. The role offers a balance of autonomous working and collaboration with operational teams, clients and senior stakeholders.

Working arrangements will depend on the individual project and client requirements, with opportunities available across different UK locations.

About You

We're looking for an analytical, proactive and commercially aware Quantity Surveyor who can work independently while adapting to different project environments and client teams.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering.
• A good understanding of post-contract commercial management and contractual processes.
• Experience with cost forecasting, change management, payments and final accounts.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Good Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and graphs.
• The ability to communicate effectively with operational teams, clients and senior stakeholders.
• The flexibility to adapt to different projects, teams and client requirements.
