Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor - Major Industrial & Logistics Scheme (£110M Project)

Location: Gloucester Area

Salary:

  • Quantity Surveyor: £60,000 - £85,000 + package
  • Senior Quantity Surveyor: £75,000 - £95,000 + package (DOE)

Contract Type: Permanent

A leading main contractor delivering large-scale industrial and logistics developments across the UK is seeking a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major £110M industrial/logistics project in the Gloucester region. This is a high-profile scheme featuring extensive steel‑frame construction, civils works, external yards, and specialist fit‑out elements.

The Role

Working alongside an experienced commercial team, you will take ownership of commercial management across key elements of the project, ensuring cost efficiency and contractual compliance throughout delivery. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing procurement, tendering, and contract administration for major subcontract packages
  • Leading cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting
  • Preparing valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Identifying and mitigating commercial and contractual risks
  • Supporting and advising the project team to maintain budget and programme targets
  • For Senior QS level: mentoring junior staff and taking commercial lead on significant portions of the project
Requirements
  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor
  • Previous involvement in industrial sheds, logistics units, manufacturing facilities, or large steel‑frame builds is highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of JCT or NEC contracts
  • Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex packages autonomously (Senior QS especially)
