Upfront Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor - Roofing & Cladding for a full-time, permanent role in Waltham Abbey, Essex.

You will cover projects from start to finish, handle applications, variations, cost reporting and risk, with onsite visits and close collaboration with commercial and design teams.

The role offers a salary of £55k-£65k, 28 days holiday, pension and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years' experience in Quantity Surveying or commercial construction.
• Degree qualified, ideally 2:1.
• Good understanding of NEC3; JCT Design & Build knowledge is useful.
• Experience in roofing, cladding, façade or external‑envelope preferred.
• Full UK driving licence; CSCS card desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare applications for payment, price variations and maintain cost reports.
• Manage contractual requirements including Early Warning Notices, Extension of Time and other notices.
• Review site progress, labour schedules and changes to scope.
• Procure subcontract packages and manage subcontractor payments.
• Identify commercial risk and protect cash flow and profitability.

Quantity Surveyor - Roofing & Cladding

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum

Location: Waltham Abbey, Essex

Position: Full-time, Permanent

A specialist roofing and cladding contractor is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor - Roofing & Cladding to join its established commercial team.

This is a hands‑on commercial role covering projects from commencement through to completion, with responsibility for applications, variations, cost reporting, contractual matters, subcontract procurement and commercial risk. The company delivers technically detailed roofing, cladding and façade packages across the UK, giving the Quantity Surveyor - Roofing & Cladding exposure to a varied portfolio rather than one repetitive type of project.

Salary and Package

• £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience

This is primarily an office and project‑based position, with approximately one day per week spent visiting sites to assess progress, maintain accurate records and support monthly commercial reporting.

• Procuring subcontract packages, compiling subcontract orders and managing commercial matters with subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identifying commercial risk, protecting cash flow and profitability, and maintaining productive relationships with clients, client representatives and the supply chain.

Candidate Background

For the Quantity Surveyor - Roofing & Cladding position, the key requirements are:

• Minimum four years' experience within Quantity Surveying or a commercial construction role.
• Degree qualified, ideally to a minimum 2:1 classification.
• Good understanding of construction subcontracts, particularly NEC3; JCT Design & Build knowledge is also useful.
• Roofing, cladding, façade, external‑envelope or flat‑roofing experience is preferred.
• Strong commercial record keeping, cost control and ability to identify contractual and financial risk.
• Full UK driving licence. A CSCS card is desirable but not essential.
