This role is pivotal in ensuring commercial control, accurate variation cost management, and the successful delivery of high-quality projects in line with client and business expectations. The QS will work in close partnership with Project Managers, Commercial Managers and Operations Managers to ensure the commercial integrity of our projects is maintained throughout the project lifecycle. A key focus of the role is to safeguard project margins by proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks to profitability before they materialise. This will be achieved through the delivery of strong, hands‑on commercial support to site-based teams, rigorous enforcement of contractual obligations, and diligent cost control. The QS will play a critical role in ensuring that commercial best practices are consistently applied, enabling informed decision‑making and reinforcing the financial resilience of the business. The QS will bring a demonstrated history of success on Hyperscale Data Centre projects, with in‑depth expertise in all relevant technical specifications and commercial documentation. They will exhibit strong interpersonal abilities and effectively engage across all levels of the organisation. Proven leadership capabilities, along with exceptional communication and influencing skills, will enable them to collaborate confidently with both internal teams and external stakeholders. While this position will primarily support the on‑site project teams, it will also carry the responsibility of holding teams accountable when business processes and commercial protocols are not being followed. The QS will be expected to constructively challenge non‑compliance, escalation concerns where necessary, and drive adherence to best practices that protect the business’s financial and contractual position. The role demands the ability to confidently guide and influence operational teams while upholding governance standards, all without undermining a collaborative working environment.

What you’ll be doing as our Quantity Surveyor (QS):
  • Provide robust support to on-site project teams, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and the financial integrity of projects.
  • Monitor project costs against budget, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to maintain profitability.
  • Manage and assess variations and changes to the scope of work; prepare and submit cost proposals and claims in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support and manage monthly valuations, cost/value reconciliations, and financial forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and support strategic decision‑making to protect the business.
  • Administer the main contract and subcontracts in accordance with legal and company procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments (e.g. Sales, Commercial, Finance, D&E, Legal etc) and external stakeholders (clients, consultants, subcontractors) to ensure project success.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain sound business practices.
  • Manage the negotiation of contract pricing with suppliers when necessary.
  • Grow long‑term relationships with clients
  • Effectively communicate relevant practice information to superiors.
  • Take responsibility for various special projects from time to time.
  • Proven ability to interpret contract terms to formulate and substantiate claims, protecting the business from margin erosion while also enhancing profitability through the effective management of variations.
Experience
  • Experience of Telecommunications Infrastructure Cabling, ICT or Security deployments.
  • Experience of delivery Hyperscale Data Centre projects.
  • Ability to produce and deliver client presentations in a clear, concise and confident manner.
