About the Quantity Surveyor (Painting) Role

As a Quantity Surveyor (Painting), you’ll be fully accountable for financial and technical oversight of projects across your region. You’ll price, procure, monitor, and manage each contract with full autonomy—right through to cash collection. You’ll work closely with clients, internal teams, and subcontractors to ensure work is delivered profitably and on point.

Key Responsibilities

  • Measure, price, and estimate project costs and tenders

  • Review contracts and highlight risks or commercial pinch points

  • Prepare and present monthly CVRs, valuations, and financial reports

  • Control procurement, purchase orders, and invoicing processes

  • Monitor contract performance against production targets and financial forecasts

  • Track variations and ensure full agreement with clients

  • Collaborate with the commercial team to support bids and submissions

  • Manage final accounts, retention release, and aged debt collection

  • Ensure compliance with all H&S policies and FIRAS/IFC requirements

  • Lead commercial improvement plans across under-performing contracts

  • Participate in branch meetings to drive financial and operational excellence

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent commercial discipline

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in surveying or estimating within the painting or construction sector

  • Strong knowledge of commercial controls, CVR reporting, and tendering processes

  • Excellent Excel and IT skills; confident with reporting tools and tracking systems

  • Comfortable working with both direct and subcontract labour models

  • Confident presenting financial information and resolving commercial disputes

  • Full UK driving licence and CSCS (Manager/Professional level)

  • Strong time management and ability to prioritise under pressure

  • Commercially sharp, detail-driven, and proactive
