Quantity Surveyor – Main Contracting – £65 000 plus package

My client a privately owned top tier main contractor are looking to expand their commercial team due to one of their major flagship schemes in London starting.
The project is a £120m heavy refurbishment and cut and carve scheme based in Central London. Redeveloping a 20 storey commercial office building into a modern vibrate scheme.
Purpose of the Role
You will work within our commercial/construction team to support the successful delivery of [insert sector: e.g., residential / commercial / infrastructure] projects. Your role will involve cost-management, subcontractor procurement and commercial risk management to help maximise value and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support in the development and implementation of the commercial strategy for the project(s).
- Manage subcontractor procurement, order placement and oversight of subcontractor accounts.
- Prepare valuations, payment certificates and invoices; monitor monthly cost and value reporting.
- Manage variations and change control processes; ensure accurate project records and documentation.
- Provide forecasts, targets and reconciliations; contribute to final account preparation.
- Provide commercial and contractual support to the project team; ensure the company’s entitlement is protected.
- Liaise with site management, supply chain and clients to influence commercial outcomes positively.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant third-level qualification (e.g., BSc in Quantity Surveying / Construction Economics) or equivalent experience.
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on construction projects (ideally 4–8 years or more, depending on level).
- Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and comfortable working with cost/valuation/forecast tools.
- (Desirable) Experience of contract forms such as JCT, NEC3/NEC4; experience in [insert sector] would be advantageous.
- A commitment to professional development and willingness to work towards chartership with a recognised body.
