Job summary

A leading energy solutions company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Energy team. The role involves managing commercial reporting, preparing payment applications, and administering contracts. Ideal candidates will have an HND or degree, relevant experience, and be working towards chartership with RICS/ICES. This position provides an opportunity to work on significant projects in North Wales.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a commercial role, such as Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor.
  • Registered with RICS/ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts and Standard Methods of Measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in internal commercial reporting and other required reports.
  • Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full documentation.
  • Control cost reports to the client with compliant documentation.
  • Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts and payments.
  • Undertake contract administration and change management.

Position Overview

Murphy is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to work with the Energy team, initially based at Stonecross (WA3 3JD) Jan-June, then onsite 5 days a week at Glaslyn on the Great Grid Upgrade, to reinforce and refurbish parts of the high power network in North Wales. Our business is well‑known for its extensive in‑house expertise, experience, and continuous drive to innovate within the industry to create added value for all our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Aid in the internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Prepare valuations/applications for payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract.
  • Control of cost reports to the client with contractually compliant documentation.
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering and change use the cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
  • Measurement of quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of project final accounts.
  • Drafting of subcontracts including professional services.
Qualifications
  • HND/Degree qualification.
  • Proven experience within a commercial role i.e., Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or a similar role.
  • Registered with RICS/ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract, NEC preferable together with Standard Methods of Measurement.
