GBR Recruitment Limited are proud to be working on a new and highly interesting opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a highly progressive Lincolnshire based Civil Engineering, Groundworks and Building Services business (inc. full turnkey industrial and commercial builds, up to c.£10M) across Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the overall success of both small and major construction projects, managing and monitoring the financial and contractual elements of all contracts.
Responsibilities
- Pre‑contract review of tender documents, performing quantity take‑offs from drawings to confirm the amount of each item required for successful project delivery.
- Surveying of civil engineering projects (project values ranging from £20K to £7M).
- Production and management of accurate valuations, including subcontract enquiries, cost monitoring, Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), cost variations, preparation of valuations and final accounts.
- Cost control measures and monthly reporting of profit & loss (P&L) with a full understanding of the scope of work required.
- Regular site visits to ensure works are running as expected and all quantities are recorded.
- Management of sub‑contractors, measuring the value of work completed.
- Collaborating closely with clients, commercial and contract delivery teams on NEC contracts and others.
- Working to a standard set of BOQ to allow multiple contractors to price the same quantities, ensuring fair and accurate bids.
Qualifications & Attributes
- Strong QS experience across civils, groundworks (site preparation, excavation, surfacing, utility systems, concrete structures, irrigation solutions).
- Commercial and industrial construction experience across various builds such as office buildings, warehouses, schools, sports and leisure facilities.
- Experience with NEC / JCT contracts – QS experience is ideal.
- Experience working with end‑users as principal contractor and subcontracting to other main contractors; experience of quantity surveying on both sides is a plus.
- Familiarity with Conquest Software or similar – training will be provided.

Location & Travel
Commutable from Lincoln, Newark, Sleaford, Spalding, Boston, Grantham, Gainsborough, Bardney, Horncastle, Louth, Brigg, Scunthorpe, Retford, Worksop, Skegness, Grimsby and surrounding areas. The role requires regular on‑site visits to client sites.
