Job description

Our client, a well-established residential developer, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team for a key project in Southampton – a 104‑unit new build development. Phases 1 and 2 have been successfully completed, and the company is now moving forward with Phase 3 following the previous contractor entering administration. The building is already watertight, with internal fit‑out works remaining – including kitchens, bathrooms, and finishing elements. This is a great opportunity to take a lead commercial role on a live, sizeable scheme and see it through to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all commercial and cost management aspects of Phase 3.
  • Manage procurement of remaining packages and materials (kitchens, bathrooms, finishes, etc.).
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate sub‑contractor orders and payments.
  • Conduct regular cost reporting and forecasting.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Team to ensure financial and contractual control.
  • Maintain strong communication with stakeholders, clients, and suppliers.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the residential new build sector.
  • Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and procurement processes.
  • Ability to manage cost control and budgets effectively.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
