About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the Cambridge commercial team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects — from initial tender through to final account — ensuring each scheme is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standard. As a key member of the project team, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of cost control and commercial management, working closely with Project Managers and site teams.

Key responsibilities

• Managing cost planning, tendering, procurement and subcontractor negotiation.
• Preparing and reviewing budgets, valuations, cost reports and forecasts.
• Administering contracts and managing change control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Undertaking value engineering and ensuring commercial viability of design proposals.
• Assessing and managing project risks, variations and financial implications.
• Liaising with clients, consultants and the wider project team to maintain strong relationships and clear communication.
• Producing accurate final accounts and maintaining full commercial transparency.
• Supporting the mentoring and development of junior team members where appropriate.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within commercial fit-out or refurbishment.
• Strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of cost planning, procurement and contract administration.
• Familiarity with JCT contracts and the full project lifecycle from tender to final account.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients and subcontractors.
• Proactive and organised approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
• Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (degree level or equivalent).
• Based in or within a commutable distance of Cambridge, with flexibility to visit sites as required.
