Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their client in Caerphilly on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will specialize in Groundworks packages and will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, analyzing project documents, and working closely with project managers. Strong analytical and communication skills are required, along with proven experience in the construction industry. A full UK driving license and willingness to travel are essential. Competitive salary of £55k to £66k based on experience.

  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for Groundworks projects.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Source, negotiate, and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Work closely with project managers and the commercial team.
  • Contribute to tender submissions and risk analysis.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry pricing and trends.
  • Attend site visits as required.

BMSL Group are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join one of our established clients on a permanent basis.
Ideally you will specialise in Groundworks packages.
Initial project will be Caerphilly area.
Salary: £55k to £66k dependant on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for projects, with a focus on Groundworks packages.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents to prepare material, labour, and subcontractor costings.
  • Source, negotiate, and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Work closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and the wider commercial team to ensure estimates align with project requirements.
  • Contribute to tender submissions, value engineering, and risk analysis.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry pricing, supply chain trends, and construction techniques.
  • Attend site visits as required.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience as a QS within the construction industry, with strong Groundowrks project knowledge.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to projects and offices.
