Barker Ross Group is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator in Leicester to join a growing, family-run building contractor with an established 80-year trading history and a strong East Midlands reputation.

The role is genuinely 50/50 QS and Estimating, covering tendering, procurement, commercial management and final accounts on projects from 25k up to 4m, across refurbishment, fit-out, maintenance, alterations and new build for public and private clients.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor/Estimator in main contractor.
• Experience across refurbishment, fit-out, maintenance, alterations and/or new build.
• Public-sector procurement knowledge.
• Experience with projects broadly within the 25k-4m range.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates, tender build-ups and pricing submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Obtain, analyse and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify risks, scope gaps, exclusions and commercial opportunities.
• Support tender negotiations, value engineering and public-sector bids.
• Manage project costs, valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor packages and commercial negotiations.
• Produce cost-value reconciliations and commercial reports.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Work closely with Contracts Managers and senior management to manage commercial risks and maximise opportunities.
