Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team of surveyors and project managers reporting into the Director whilst providing a cost consulting role to the client.
- Ensure the client achieves their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control and the provision of contractual advice.
- Attend and/or chair meetings with the client.
- Prepare financial reports.
- Monitor the communication of a project status.
- Prepare full tender documentation.
- Provide advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions.
- Provide advice on suitability and preparation of contract documents.
- Prepare management reports.
- Monitor performance milestones and deliverables.
- Administer cost and variation procedures.
- Carry out full post contract surveying duties including establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and disputes.
- Provide day‑to‑day cost management of projects from estimate preparation and cost planning through to final account settlements.
- Build and maintain positive and trusting relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Effectively communicate ideas and actions that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Exhibit drive, flexibility, passion, and a proactive attitude towards tasks.
- Take ownership of responsibilities and ensure timely delivery on commitments.
- Approach challenges with a solutions‑oriented mindset.
- Analyse and synthesize detailed information to identify opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
- A relevant degree or master’s qualification in quantity surveying or a similar equivalent subject.
- Prior experience working within the retail sector of the construction industry, or a similar fast‑paced refurbishment and fit‑out sector.
- Ability to carry out a variety of pre‑ and post‑contract duties autonomously.
- Confident personality with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with clients on a regular basis.
- Experience using CostX software (highly advantageous but not essential).
- Experience working with JCT contracts (desirable).
- Demonstrable experience of carrying out tendering and procurement processes.
- Full UK driving licence – essential for this role as travel will be required to sites not always accessible via public transport. A car allowance will be provided as part of the package.
