Qualifications

  • Understanding of the relationship between cashflow and revenue.
  • Practical ideas for improving cashflow and revenue.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of contractual law and commercial practices is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and own commercial activities.

Our client, a leading organisation in the utilities sector, is currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join their team in Glasgow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all commercial aspects of tenders - from cost modelling and risk review to board approvals.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies that support profitable growth and operational agility.
  • Support project and contract delivery by tracking performance, maximising margins, and issuing key contractual notices.
  • Own the commercial forecasting process - working with stakeholders to report on revenue, costs, and cashflow.
  • Manage working capital by driving timely invoicing, monitoring WIP, and supporting cashflow targets.
  • Be a trusted business partner - managing subcontractors, leading customer negotiations, and guiding teams on commercial best practice.
Job Requirements
  • Proven experience in a commercial or quantity surveying role, ideally within a multi-divisional organisation.
  • Understanding of the between cashflow and revenue.
  • Practical ideas for improving cashflow and revenue.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of contractual law and commercial practices is desirable.
  • Commercially astute, process-driven, and ready to make a real impact.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of commercial activities.
  • Experience in the water sector would be advantageous but not essential.
