Job description

We’re looking for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong interest in AI, data automation, and construction delivery to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to combine commercial acumen, technical curiosity, and hands‑on delivery exposure within the construction and earthworks environment.

You’ll be at the forefront of transforming traditional Excel‑based workflows into automated, intelligent dashboards that support real‑time decision‑making across commercial and operational teams. A key part of this role is engaging directly with clients to understand their needs and developing tailored tools that provide actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, structure, and automate Excel models and dashboards to support project commercial management.
  • Design complex formulas and scenario‑based modelling tools to analyse cost, logistics, and delivery options.
  • Support commercial teams in cost forecasting, NEC change management, and performance reporting.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to understand site logistics, sequencing, and constraints to enhance modelling accuracy.
  • Speak with clients to understand their requirements and develop customised tools or dashboards that meet their needs.
  • Learn and apply basic coding / scripting skills (SQL, PHP, or similar) to develop early‑stage online database tools.
  • Investigate, analyse, and resolve commercial and technical problems — including identifying root causes and developing actionable insights.
  • Support in drafting and managing NEC change documentation, including notifications and discussions with clients.
About You

You’re a curious, analytical thinker with a genuine interest in how data, automation, and AI can improve construction efficiency. You enjoy interacting with clients to understand their challenges and translating those insights into practical, usable tools. You’re equally comfortable exploring a spreadsheet formula as you are discussing logistics on‑site.

Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline).
  • Completion of AI, data analytics, or coding‑related courses (formal or self‑taught).
  • Strong Excel skills — including complex formula creation, data modelling, and automation techniques.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical ability, with patience for complex problem‑solving.
  • Interest in developing basic coding skills (SQL, PHP, or similar).
  • Strong written and verbal communication — especially in technical problem analysis and client discussions.
  • Enthusiasm to learn about earthworks, both from a commercial and delivery perspective.
  • Experience with similar automation projects.
Desirable
  • Exposure to NEC contracts or change management principles.
  • Experience with Power BI, Python, or other automation tools.
  • Understanding of logistics or project delivery workflows in construction.
Why Join Us
  • Be part of a forward‑thinking team blending construction expertise with data intelligence.
  • Work across both commercial and operational functions gaining a holistic understanding of project delivery.
  • Engage directly with clients to design custom tools that inform decision‑making.
  • Opportunity to grow into a Tech‑Enabled Quantity Surveyor, building tools that directly impact project performance.
  • Continuous professional development with exposure to AI applications in construction.
