Job summary

A leading main contractor in the North East is seeking a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team. The successful candidate will manage project budgets and coordinate subcontractor accounts throughout the project lifecycle. Ideal qualifications include experience in commercial construction and a degree in Quantity Surveying. The position offers opportunities to contribute significantly to Design and Build projects.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in commercial construction.
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle from tender to final account.
  • Based in or willing to work in the North East region.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and issue tender documents and contractor packages.
  • Manage project budgets, including forecasting and cost control.
  • Prepare and submit monthly valuations to clients.
  • Procure and manage subcontractor accounts.
  • Value and negotiate variations and compensation events.
  • Produce regular financial reports for senior management.
  • Settle final accounts with clients and subcontractors.

Job description

Our client is looking for a motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team, a leading main contractor specialising in commercial Design and Build projects across the North East of England. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, from initial tender through to final account.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Tender & Procurement: Prepare and issue tender documents and contractor packages.
  • Cost Management: Manage project budgets, including forecasting and cost control.
  • Valuations: Prepare and submit monthly valuations to clients.
  • Subcontractor Management: Procure, negotiate, and manage sub-contractor accounts.
  • Change Management: Value and negotiate variations and compensation events.
  • Reporting: Produce regular financial reports for senior management.
  • Final Accounts: Settle final accounts with both clients and subcontractors.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the commercial construction sector, preferably with a main contractor.
  • Strong understanding of Design and Build contracts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and IT skills.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant construction-related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Based in or willing to work in the North East region.
