Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading UK utility contractor on major energy and infrastructure projects in the South West. The role covers Taunton/Bristol with a minimum of three days on site, and an initial six-month contract at a day rate of circa £450 Inside IR35.

You will support the commercial management from award through final account, handling subcontractor accounts, compensation events, and cost forecasting while aligning with NEC contracts and HSQE

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in utilities, energy, civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Knowledge of compensation events and commercial change management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline (or equivalent).
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Support commercial management of projects from contract award through to final account.
• Prepare commercial reports and manage subcontractor accounts.
• Administer compensation events, monitor project risks and contribute to cost forecasting.
• Identify variations and claims and attend project meetings.

Our client is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting the delivery of high-profile energy and infrastructure projects across the South West. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex civil engineering and utility schemes while gaining exposure to all aspects of project commercial management.

Job Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of projects from contract award through to final account. Working alongside Senior Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, you'll prepare commercial reports, manage subcontractor accounts, administer compensation events, monitor project risks, and contribute to cost reporting and forecasting. You'll also identify variations and claims, attend project meetings, and ensure commercial activities are delivered in line with company procedures and Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities, energy, civil engineering or infrastructure
• Good understanding of NEC contracts
• Experience managing subcontractor accounts, valuations, variations and final accounts
• Knowledge of compensation events and commercial change management
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
