Job summary

Tetra Tech in Southampton is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support the lifecycle of cost and procurement management. Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the full lifecycle of cost and procurement management, contributing to the successful delivery of technically complex construction projects. Working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, you will gain exposure to both pre- and post-contract activities while developing your expertise through structured training and professional development. This role is designed to support progression towards Chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Your Impact in this Position

You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, within budget and to the highest standards. By working closely with clients and technical teams, you will help drive informed decision-making, manage financial risk and contribute to the successful execution of innovative engineering and construction solutions.

Core Capabilities
  • Cost Planning & Estimating: Develop accurate cost plans and early-stage estimates to inform project viability. Apply analytical thinking to optimise value and manage financial risk
  • Procurement & Contract Management: Prepare tender and contract documentation aligned with industry standards. Support procurement strategies that deliver best value outcomes
  • Project Delivery Support: Assist in managing construction projects from inception to completion. Contribute to timely, cost-effective delivery across diverse sectors
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, architects, engineers and project managers. Build strong professional relationships within technical project teams
Commercial & Due Diligence Activities

Support fund monitoring and due diligence processes. Assist with a range of pre- and post-contract surveying duties

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

A minimum 2:1 degree in Quantity Surveying (BSc or BEng) is required, alongside strong MS Office skills and excellent written and verbal communication. You should be self-motivated, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a technical environment. A full UK driving licence and eligibility for security clearance are desirable.

Working Environment

This role is based in our Southampton office, with a hybrid working model typically involving 2–3 days in the office and flexibility for remote working. You will benefit from a supportive, collaborative culture with structured training, including APC preparation, and opportunities for career progression within a leading engineering consultancy.
