Job summary

Sphere Solutions is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a major groundworks and civil engineering project in Port Talbot, South Wales. You will manage the commercial aspects, valuations, and sub-contractor accounts to ensure profitability and contract compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a background in groundworks/civils, with NEC4 knowledge advantageous, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to work closely with project teams.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundworks, civils or construction for a subcontractor.
• Sustained periods of time in employment.
• Understanding of NEC4 contracts is advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with site and project teams.
• HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline desirable.
• Ability to measure to SMM7.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of groundworks and civil engineering packages.
• Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments, variations and change.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts and commercial performance.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Review subcontractor quotations and packages.
• Measure works completed and maintain accurate commercial records.
• Assist with procurement and subcontractor negotiations.
• Manage variations, compensation events and contractual changes.
• Work closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
• Prepare regular cost reports and commercial forecasts.Ensure contractual notices and commercial correspondence are issued within required timescales.

About The Role

Requirements
