Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial management of a diverse portfolio of retail refurbishment and development projects across the UK. You will own cost plans, budgets, and procurement strategies while overseeing contract administration and variations.

The role requires extensive experience in cost management, procurement, and JCT/NEC contracts, with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Cost management and procurement expertise within retail, commercial, or construction contexts.
• Experience administering contracts (JCT/NEC) and delivering financial controls.
• Strong negotiation and commercial awareness with track record in value engineering.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication across internal teams and external parties.
• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline; MRICS advantageous.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take ownership of the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring robust cost control, effective procurement, and successful financial outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Developing cost plans, budgets, and project estimates.
• Managing procurement and tender processes, including contractor selection and negotiation.
• Administering construction contracts and managing variations.
• Producing financial reports, forecasts, and cashflow analyses.
• Driving value engineering initiatives to maximise project value.
• Managing project risks and ensuring commercial compliance.
• Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
• Supporting the successful delivery of fast-paced retail refurbishment and development programmes.

Profile

• Proven Quantity Surveying experience within retail, commercial, fit-out, or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement, and contract administration.
• Experience working with JCT and/or NEC contracts.
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
• MRICS qualification, or working towards chartership, would be advantageous.
