Job summary

ABS Commercial Solutions is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our Cumbria-based portfolio across utilities and infrastructure projects. You will contribute to commercial management, cost control and contract administration, supporting delivery from early procurement through final accounts.

You’ll work with project managers, subcontractors and clients, handling valuations, interim payments, variations and cost reports while seeking opportunities to protect margins and improve performance.

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor or in a comparable commercial role.
• Strong understanding of cost control and commercial management.
• Experience with subcontractor management, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Knowledge of contract administration and commercial risk management.
• Experience in utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering advantageous.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities with project teams.

Responsibilities

• Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Preparing and assessing applications for payment, interim valuations and cost reports.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and commercial accounts.
• Monitoring variations, change control and commercial risks.
• Administering contracts and managing contractual obligations.
• Preparing valuations, cost reports and final accounts.
• Supporting commercial negotiations and resolving financial or contractual issues.
• Working closely with project managers, operational teams, clients and subcontractors.
• Identifying opportunities to improve commercial performance and protect project margins.
• Ensuring effective commercial processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking for a new challenge where you can broaden your project experience and continue developing your commercial expertise?

ABS Commercial Solutions is growing, and we're looking for a Quantity Surveyor to support a varied portfolio of utilities and infrastructure projects across Cumbria.

We provide commercial management and quantity surveying support to Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors and utility providers across the UK. From established frameworks to individual infrastructure schemes, our work offers exposure to different project teams, commercial requirements and delivery environments.

The role

You’ll play an active role in the commercial management of projects, helping maintain financial control, manage contractual obligations and support successful delivery.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

The projects and responsibilities will vary by assignment, giving you the opportunity to apply your existing skills in different environments and continue building your commercial experience.

What we're looking for

• Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or in a comparable commercial role.
• A solid understanding of commercial management and cost control.
• Experience with subcontractor management, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Knowledge of contract administration and commercial risk management.
• Experience within utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering would be advantageous.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with different project teams.

Experience with NEC or other relevant forms of contract would be beneficial, depending on the assignment.
