We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team. Vanguard Healthcare Solutions is a British, privately owned, international clinical services and infrastructure provider supporting healthcare clients across the UK and worldwide. Our purpose-designed modular and mobile facilities provide new or replacement Operating Theatres, Wards, Endoscopy Suites, and Decontamination and diagnostic units, along with clinical teams and equipment. The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with the operational delivery team and will be jointly responsible for the financial, commercial and contractual management of projects from post‑tender hand‑over through to final account close‑out of the project. The role will be a key member of the operational teams and will be client‑focused at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and evolve supply chain for project procurement.
  • Manage the factory manufacturing orders and costs, subcontract procurement process, scope analysis against client specification, tender reconciliation, subcontractor comparisons, formation or order, review of commercial terms, and contract award.
  • Prepare, submit and negotiate all monthly sub‑contract project interim and final accounts using database software and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date forecast final accounts for presentation to clients on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare claims for variations to contract and negotiate with the client and supply chain to deliver profitable change.
  • Prepare and present internal monthly project W.I.P reports at monthly internal Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) meetings.
  • Manage risk and opportunity and present at the CVR.
  • Promote and evolve financial control measures.
  • Forecast cash flow and margin recognition.
  • Attend client’s site monthly project progress meetings, including presentation of contractors reports where appropriate.
  • Present regular financial feedback to the estimators on the basis of known costs.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Support any dispute resolution claims where appropriate.
  • Maintain a professional approach with supply chain and client to deliver increased profitability projects.
  • Provide input and support for the negotiation of contracts under NHS Frameworks utilising JCT formats & bespoke contracts.
  • Ensure all commercial and contractual requirements are understood with the operational delivery team before project commencement.
  • Work with operations to cost and sign off change control and additional instruction requests internally and with the customer.
  • Optimise revenue and profitability from contracts.
  • Will be willing and able to participate in predominantly UK travel to key customers.
Requirements

  • Be able to negotiate with third parties and clients.
  • Solutions‑driven mindset with a strong sense of purpose, a highly customer centric, yet commercial approach.
  • Previous demonstrable experience of managing construction projects with full accountability for the commercial delivery.
  • Understanding of relevant commercial and contract law.
  • Experience in managing commercial risk from project completion, including final account negotiation.
  • Comfortable with a high degree of interaction with clients as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Will have a demonstrable track record working for a Design and Build Contractor.
  • Degree educated or equivalent experience.
