Job summary

Optio Resourcing is seeking a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator for their Huddersfield head office. This office-based role includes travel to sites nationwide and involves pricing tenders, producing cost estimates, and managing commercial aspects through to final account.

The ideal candidate will have proven QS/Estimator experience in commercial shopfitting or interior fit-out, with strong Excel skills and a relevant degree or equivalent. The position offers £50,000–£60,000 DOE plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of joinery and interior finishes.
• Experience on fast-track, design-led projects for branded clients.
• Comfortable taking projects from tender through final account.

Responsibilities

• Pricing tenders for restaurant, bar, hospitality and retail fit-outs from drawings and specs.
• Producing accurate estimates including joinery, shopfitting and finishes.
• Gathering subcontractor and supplier quotations and performing comparisons.
• Preparing cost plans, value engineering options and tender submissions.
• Handing over won projects and managing them commercially through to final account.
• Managing valuations, applications for payment, variations and cost reports.
• Placing and managing subcontract orders and supplier packages.
• Collaborating with Directors, Project Managers and design team.

Quantity Surveyor / Estimator - Commercial Shopfitting & Interiors

Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (office-based, with travel to sites nationwide)

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 DOE + benefits

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Optio Resourcing is working with a well-established commercial shopfitting and interiors contractor to recruit a QS / Estimator for their Huddersfield head office.

About the Business

Our client is a nationwide commercial shopfitter delivering high-end interior fit-outs for well-known high street brands. They work across the restaurant, hospitality, retail and leisure sectors. Their portfolio includes restaurant groups, bars, pubs, fast-casual dining chains and luxury hospitality venues. They focus on creating on-brand, design-led environments for their clients' customers. They are SafeContractor approved and have been trading for 20 years.

The Role

This is a dual commercial role covering both estimating and quantity surveying for shopfitting and interior fit-out projects:

• Pricing tenders for restaurant, bar, hospitality and retail fit-outs from drawings, specifications and design packs
• Producing accurate estimates, including joinery, bespoke shopfitting, finishes, M&E and specialist packages
• Getting subcontractor and supplier quotations, and running comparisons
• Preparing cost plans, value engineering options and tender submissions
• Handing over won projects and managing them commercially through to final account
• Managing valuations, applications for payment, variations and cost reports
• Placing and managing subcontract orders and supplier packages
• Working closely with the Directors, Project Managers and the design team

About You

• A proven QS and/or Estimator background within commercial shopfitting or interior fit-out. This is essential.
• Experience pricing and running restaurant, hospitality, bar, leisure or retail fit-out projects. This is essential.
• A strong understanding of bespoke joinery, shopfitting packages and high-end interior finishes
• Experience on fast-track, design-led projects for branded clients
• Confident taking projects from tender through to final account
• Strong Excel skills. Estimating or measurement software is an advantage.
• A full UK driving licence, as there is occasional travel to sites nationwide
• A degree or HNC in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline is desirable but not essential with the right experience
