Join a High-Performing Commercial Team

Our client looking for an experienced and driven Quantity Surveyor to join our high-performing commercial team based in Staffordshire. Our Quantity Surveyors are experts in their field, playing a vital role in ensuring projects are procured and delivered to the highest standards. You'll be part of a professional, collaborative team that values quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

In this role, you'll oversee the commercial management of projects across the North Midlands, ensuring that best practice is applied at every stage to achieve successful outcomes and maximise project profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all commercial aspects of projects from procurement through to final account.
  • Place robust trade contracts on time, ensuring key contractual risks are managed effectively.
  • Support pre-construction activities and provide feedback on project performance.
  • Ensure all commercial procedures and documentation are followed in line with company standards.
  • Prepare, monitor, and review the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Manage subcontractor payments in line with order agreements and the Construction Act.
  • Prepare cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and monthly cost forecasts for review.
  • Maintain positive cash flow and control non-recoverable costs.
  • Undertake regular remeasurements and monitor package value against work completed on site.
  • Produce and issue all contractual notices and correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Liaise closely with clients and their cost control representatives, providing proactive commercial advice.
  • Submit valuations and ensure payment schedules are maintained.
  • Lead on final account negotiations and closeout.
  • Mentor and develop Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors.
  • Identify and elevate any potential disputes promptly.
  • Support health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives across the business.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within construction or civil engineering.
  • Strong understanding of JCT and/or NEC forms of contract.
  • Excellent commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and value recovery.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline (BSc preferred).
  • 5 years' experience with demonstrable examples of sole project responsibilities.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to project sites across the North Midlands.
