Quantity Surveyor

Project: Heathrow H7 (London, UK)

About H7, Heathrow

Ferrovial Construction has been working at Heathrow Airport for over 10 years delivering complex infrastructure projects with high standards of quality, safety, and environmental care.

Since joining Heathrow’s framework in 2014, we have delivered various airside and landside projects, including new taxiways, rehabilitation of existing taxiways, and the southern runway. We have redeveloped sterile and grass areas and replaced critical assets like fire mains, fuel mains, and HV ducts. Currently, we are rehabilitating assets with expired design life and planning future runway resurfacing projects.

We design and plan our works around critical assets, engaging with key stakeholders to deliver value for Heathrow.

Our H7 framework includes airfield works (taxiways, runways, stands), civils (roads, demolition, structures), and MEP packages (services tunnels, lifts, safety systems, fuel/fire mains).

Role Overview

Supporting the Area/Senior Quantity Surveyor and working as part of an integrated project team to deliver successful commercial outcomes. Tasks will vary between supporting and independent work, with regular deadlines:

  • Cost/Value reconciliations
  • Bottom-up and End-of-Life Cost Reporting
  • Preparing and agreeing on interim and final valuations, accounts, and subcontract final accounts
  • Issuing subcontractor payments and certifications
  • Contract administration, including early warnings and change management
  • Dispute management
  • Cost monitoring and reporting
  • Site visits for record-keeping and risk management
  • Managing relationships with subcontractors to ensure quality and value
  • Drafting subcontract scope and packages
  • Submitting payment applications to the client
  • Engaging with the client team regularly
Technical Competencies

Understanding of NEC contracts, contract law, project controls, insurance, and industry technologies. Ability to interpret planning techniques and contribute to strategy discussions.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Methodical approach
  • Experience in Mechanical and Electrical works (desirable)
Desirable Skills
  • Airport or critical area experience
