Freelance Quantity Surveyor

Location: West London

Contract Type: Freelance

About the Project

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a prestigious multi-million-pound cut and carve development in West London. The project involves the extensive structural reconfiguration, refurbishment, and high-spec fit‑out of an existing building to deliver premium commercial and mixed‑use space. This is a technically complex, design‑led scheme requiring strong commercial management and attention to detail from pre‑construction through to final account.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all cost management, budgeting, and financial reporting for the project
  • Prepare and negotiate subcontract packages, tenders, and contracts
  • Manage valuations, variations, change control, and final accounts
  • Support procurement of key trades including structural alterations, façade works, and fit‑out packages
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, Design Team, and Client QS to maintain commercial control and value engineering opportunities
  • Provide accurate cost forecasting and cash flow projections throughout the project
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on cut & carve, refurbishment, or structural alteration projects in London
  • Strong understanding of JCT contracts and change management processes
  • Demonstrable experience managing projects in the £5m‑£20m+ range
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently and integrate effectively with design and site teams
  • RICS qualification or equivalent preferred
