Job summary

Siemens Mobility in the UK is hiring multiple Quantity Surveyors to support major rail and infrastructure programmes nationwide. Roles require hybrid working with a minimum three days in the office, and you’ll collaborate with clients, contractors and internal teams to manage commercial outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Work on project and work package change control and management.
• Provide commercial interface for responsible work packages.
• Support project team with contractual and commercial activities.
• Manage costs for work packages, including forecasting and budgeting.
• Identify risks and opportunities for work packages.
• Contribute to internal and external commercial reports.

We're hiring across Glasgow, Ireland, Manchester, York, Derby, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Birmingham, Chippenham, London and Croydon, supporting technologies including signalling, electrification, telecoms, SCADA, digital railway and traffic management.

You‘ll make a difference by …

• Working experience of project and work package change control and management
• Providing commercial interface for responsible work packages
• Providing contractual & commercial support to Project team
• Experience of work package cost management, including forecasting, budget management and control
• Experience of work package risks and opportunities
• Provides input to internal and external commercial reports as required
• Experience of processes and contract administration
• Establish and maintain leadership interfaces with stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, project management, engineering, and finance teams
• Responsible for maintaining auditable records for responsible work packages in accordance with contractual requirements

Your role profile may vary from time to time in accordance with business needs. Your annual objective setting with your line manager will outline any additional responsibilities required to meet business or individual development needs for the forthcoming financial year.

What You’ll Need To Succeed...

• Experience gained within rail, engineering, defence, construction, IT or a similar project-based industry.
• Experience working on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Opportunity to work towards or holding a professional membership such as RICS, CICES.
• Experience collaboratively managing multiple stakeholders across project departments.

Must Haves:

• Previous Quantity Surveyor experience within a contractor-side project environment.
• Degree qualified (or equivalent higher education) in a relevant discipline and/or working towards or holding a professional qualification such as RICS, CICES, or similar.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing both internal and external resources such as direct labour and subcontract costs, forecasting costs, measuring completed work, and estimating/managing change and variations.
• Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to report commercial performance to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, build collaborative relationships, manage expectations, prioritise workloads effectively, and thrive in high-performing environments while promoting Siemens' high standards and reputation.
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites across the region.
• Desire to be a key role in a high performing team.
