Are you the right person for the job?

Our client is looking for a junior–mid-level Quantity Surveyor with a solid construction background and ambition to grow with a company that is expanding. To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Construction site experience (essential) – fencing/landscaping is ideal, but our client is open to related sectors such as groundworks or civil engineering
  • HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (preferred), but they will also consider proven experience without formal qualifications
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with clients, suppliers, and colleagues
  • Commercial awareness and some procurement knowledge
  • Good IT literacy – training will be provided in Bluebeam, Eque2, and Evaluate
  • Stable career history (2–3 years tenure minimum with previous employers)
  • A driving licence (preferred, required for occasional site visits)
  • Ideally, candidates will be within a 30-minute commute

Please note- our client is not seeking senior-level applicants with 20+ years’ experience – this role suits early to mid-career professionals with ambition and a growth mindset.

What will your role look like?

As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be primarily office-based, with occasional site visits (around once a month). Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Supporting the Contracts Manager on commercial and site activities
  • Preparing tenders, managing drawings, procurement, and cost reviews
  • Monitoring compliance with contracts and driving value from the supply chain
  • Preparing documentation such as contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and reports
  • Tracking changes to design/construction work and adjusting budgets accordingly
  • Procuring services of contractors and subcontractors
  • Measuring, valuing, and billing site work
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, site managers, engineers, and project managers
  • Sourcing construction materials
What can you expect in return?
  • £35,000 – £50,000 depending on experience (graduate up to £35K, experienced up to £50K)
  • Annual discretionary bonus (after probation)
  • 28 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays)
  • Company vehicle for site visits (or expenses covered)
  • Office-based initially, with potential for hybrid in the future
  • Long-term career growth, with opportunities to progress to Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager as the company expands
  • Training and professional development were supported where aligned with the role and company growth
  • A supportive, down-to-earth, informal office culture where ambition and stability are valued
