Job description
Overview

Quantity Surveyor – Merseyside. This role is on a permanent basis and is site-based. Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 (DOE).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established engineering contractor involved in projects across the UK. You'll be based at the company's head office in Merseyside, providing commercial support across multiple live projects — from complex civil schemes to bespoke steel fabrication packages. Working closely with project teams, you'll oversee cost estimation, budget control, contract administration and reporting, ensuring all work is delivered to budget, quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage accurate cost estimates, budgets and forecasts.
  • Administer NEC contracts, including tenders, variations and final accounts.
  • Monitor and report on project costs, risks and financial performance.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to manage valuations and payments.
  • Support site and workshop teams with financial and contractual advice.
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience as a QS within civil engineering and/or steel fabrication.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (essential).
  • Confident managing multiple projects ranging from £200k to £2.5m+.
  • Professionally qualified or working toward RICS accreditation (preferred).
  • Commercially astute, detail-driven, and able to work independently.

This is a great role for a proactive Quantity Surveyor who enjoys variety — moving between site, office and fabrication shop environments — and wants to take real ownership of commercial delivery across diverse projects.
