Job summary

Vision Built, a Sisk Company, is seeking a proven Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Birmingham. You will manage costs, valuations, variations, and final accounts, while maintaining strong subcontractor relationships and ensuring projects meet cash flow targets.

The role requires degree level education with accreditation in progress and knowledge of JCT contracts, CVRs, and contract administration.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tenders, analyse and select subcontractors, negotiate and finalise subcontract orders
• Manage financial and commercial aspects of subcontractors to final account completion
• Maintain site records and document control
• Record site measurements
• Assist with forecasts, targets and contract value reconciliations
• Prepare valuations and variations with detailed records, agree changes as works progress
• Update projected final accounts and submit promptly
• Liaise with site management to influence commercial matters
• Implement commercial strategy
• Maintain and protect commercial entitlements
• Participate in contract value reviews maintaining an independent view
• Identify and assess risks and opportunities
• Develop understanding of insurances and warranties
• Engage in cash management activities to ensure good cash flow
• Support tender processes as required
• Supervise and oversee Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors
• Apply clear written and verbal communication skills
• Utilise technology platforms
• Be fully conversant with the Standard Method of Measurement
• Demonstrate commercial awareness and ownership
• Apply time management and negotiation skills
• Proven QS experience with cost control, valuations, variations, final accounts
• Strong knowledge of JCT contracts, subcontract procurement, contract administration and risk management
• Experience undertaking CVRs, forecasting, cost reporting and cash flow management
• Ability to negotiate effectively with subcontractors and collaborate with project teams

The Quantity Surveyor will work within and assist the commercial and construction team to ensure successful project delivery while maintaining relationships, maximising commercial returns and managing risk.

• Preparing tenders, analysing and selecting subcontractors, negotiating and finalising subcontract orders.

• Participate in contract value reviews maintaining an independent view

• Proven Quantity Surveying experience within the construction industry, managing costs, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
• Strong knowledge of JCT contracts, subcontract procurement, contract administration, and commercial risk management.
• Experience undertaking Contract Value Reviews (CVRs), forecasting, cost reporting, and cash flow management.
• Ability to negotiate effectively with subcontractors and collaborate with project teams to achieve commercial objectives.
