Job description
Quality Technician | Part-Time | Edinburgh

A well-established food manufacturing business based on the west side of Edinburgh is looking to appoint a Quality Technician on a permanent, part-time basis.

This is a hands-on role, suited to someone who enjoys being visible on the factory floor as well as working with quality data and documentation. The position offers 24 hours per week, worked over 3 days, with flexibility on working days.

You'll support Quality and Operations teams to ensure high standards of product safety, compliance, and consistency across the manufacturing process. This includes routine sampling, audits, hygiene checks, and supporting continuous improvement activity.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring adherence to quality procedures and work instructions
  • Sampling and analysis of raw materials, finished product, and environmental samples
  • Carrying out GMP audits and supporting hygiene and pest control programmes
  • Supporting HACCP activities and feed or food safety KPIs
  • Assisting with audit preparation and ongoing compliance requirements
  • Contributing to data analysis and quality reporting
  • Supporting training activity around hygiene and quality standards

This role combines time on the plant with office-based quality work and offers exposure across the full production process.

What we're looking for:
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment with quality or compliance exposure
  • A practical, detail-focused approach with confidence working to procedures
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a wider team
  • Basic to intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • HACCP or relevant food/agriculture/science qualifications are beneficial but not essential
  • Training can be provided for the right individual
