Job summary

HUBER+SUHNER Polatis in Cambridge, UK, seeks an Operations Quality Team member to help build world-class products for the communications industry in a Lean Manufacturing environment.

You will perform assembly, inspection and test of micro-components, handle incoming material quality and commission testing, and contribute to Non Conformance investigations and process development. Strong practical skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of processes.

  • Able to interpret engineering proposals and liaise with other disciplines.
  • Able to follow work instructions and create them if required.
  • Capable of working efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Contribute ideas to improve process times, quality and yield.
  • Familiar with data entry in Excel or MES systems.

Responsibilities

  • Test products or subassemblies for function or quality.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products.
  • Prepare and assemble materials and set up test equipment.
  • Assist Engineers in developing, building and testing prototypes, new products or processes.
  • Inspect materials and prototype parts for quality against specs.
  • Maintain logs and documentation, and plan/schedule to meet delivery targets.

Job description

Your tasks

As part of the Operations Quality Team, you will be helping to build world class products for the communications industries, within a Lean Manufacturing Environment.

This will involve: assembly, inspection and test of micro – components

Incoming material quality and commission testing of electronic components as part of engineering design and process development.

Data analysis of the precision manufactured parts for the development of concepts and prototypes, in addition to determining pass, fail or rework approach as part of Non Conformance investigations.

Development and creation of manufacturing standards and associated documentation.

Engagement in key Product and Process related projects in support of driving TQM and Customer Satisfaction.

Main tasks and duties include but are not limited to;
  • Test products or subassemblies for function or quality
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products
  • Manage waste in accordance with policies and transport accordingly to waste collection points
  • Prepare and assemble materials
  • Set up and operate test equipment in accordance with manufacturing practices and standard work procedures
  • Assist Engineers in developing, building and testing of prototypes, new products, processes or procedures
  • Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production using tools, for example, callipers, micrometres, gauges.
  • Inspect materials (Electronic, Mechanical) and prototype parts and assemblies for IQI, IQL, OQL as directed for quality and adherence to company, supplier and customer specifications
  • Manage and keep up to date logs and tracking documentation and systems
  • Participate in planning and scheduling and manage time to meet agreed on time delivery
  • Develop, prepare and create documents. For example Standard Work Instructions, Batch records, quality reports, productivity reports
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies and procedures for Health and Safety and Environment compliance
  • Manage work area to agreed 5S standards
  • Measure and record data associated with equipment and processes, product development
  • Communication with peers, Engineers, management team and cross functional departments
