Job summary

A leading food manufacturing company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Quality Systems Co-ordinator to manage audit activities and ensure compliance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, be qualified in internal auditing, and will hold Level 3 Food Safety and HACCP certifications. You will lead customer audits and drive a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Job description
Scope for Role

As our Quality Systems Co-ordinator, you will own all audit activities (internal and external).

You will ensure our processes, procedures, and standards that keep our factory running smoothly are not just followed but optimised.

You will lead customer audits, drive quality culture on site, and ensure compliance with the site’s Quality Manual.

You’ll provide technical support to enable all factory areas to meet food safety, quality and GMP standards, while working cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead all onsite certification and customer audits or visits; ensure any non-conformances raised are investigated, corrective and preventative actions implemented, and audits closed within required timeframes.
  • Coordinate customer and certification audits, ensuring pre-audit inspections are completed and previous non-conformances are addressed across departments.
  • Stay up to date with changes to customer codes of practice and standards, integrating new requirements into the site Quality Management System.
  • Maintain the site’s integrated management control and reporting system, representing food safety risk assessments, customer aspirations, and product quality.
  • Implement a strong culture of continuous improvement through GMP. Design, implement and maintain GMP KPIs, ensuring close-out of any issues and verification of corrective actions.
  • Design, implement and maintain internal auditing and environmental monitoring in alignment with BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety and customer requirements.
  • Support investigations into non-conformances, assist in problem-solving and promote sustainable solutions to prevent reoccurrence, building cooperative relationships across departments.
  • Highlight any significant shortfalls likely to compromise food safety integrity to the Technical Manager and Quality Control Co-ordinator.
  • Lead and motivate the QA team in completing audits against Quality Management Systems, GMP and HACCP controls.
  • Ensure all process deviations and non-conforming products are recorded through the appropriate logs and followed up with corrective actions.
  • Support full investigations on complaints, non-conformances and product failures, providing data for resolution and monitoring corrective actions; respond to customers if required.
  • Coordinate staff activities to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and ensure all duties are completed as agreed.
  • Manage and coordinate all relevant stock movement on the ERP system, including QMAIN, HOLD and Rework, in a timely manner.
  • Conduct gap analyses against customer requirements alongside the internal auditing system.

Person Specification
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a food manufacturing business, with at least 2 years in a senior QA or supervisory role (Essential)
