Job description

Responsibilities

Manage day to day quality activities to ensure all products are manufactured to the required specifications and the manufacturing plant is maintained to a high food safety standard.

• Management of the Quality Management System (SFoL) to ensure all aspects of Quality Control are built into SFoL and carried out as required in EQP202 as a minimum, as well as any additional Quality Controls implemented following quality incidents.
• Monitoring of the Quality Management System (SFoL) data to ensure all Quality Control requirements are being carried out, and interpreting both dimensional and attribute data to ensure that no cans below acceptable standards are despatched to the customer. Findings to be shared at morning and mid-shift meetings to improve Process Quality Control.
• Updating SOPs, forms, and documents to ensure they are relevant to the plant, in accordance with the document control process.
• Reviewing plant process performance (PPKs).
• Implementing training related to the Quality Department and equipment, as well as delivering quality inductions.
• Controlling calibration, servicing, and records for quality equipment.
• Daily review of any materials or products that have been isolated/contained (HFI) and making disposition decisions as appropriate, including minimising spoilage through re-work and releasing non-conforming product by concession when applicable.
• Monthly recording of Quality KPIs, Plant Flash Reports, and HFI trend reporting, and submitting information to the Quality Manager for reporting to the SLT. Updating Quality information boards with KPIs and HFI trends.
• Managing internal audit activities and documentation, including organising Area Process Audits and Internal Audits, recording non-conformances, and updating the Corrective Action List.
• Supporting investigations of customer complaints, which are led by the Quality Manager.
• Managing the Quality team, conducting regular reviews with team members, including start-of-year and end-of-year appraisals, and maintaining training matrices.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a similar quality-based role.
• Knowledge of the following areas: product specifications, customer needs and expectations, quality control methods, and process statistical management.
• Knowledge of FSSC, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others; ability to create and maintain a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to apply statistical analysis methods and make data-driven recommendations.
• Data-driven with strong attention to detail.
• Self-confident and a strong leader with good time-management skills.
• Fluent in both written and spoken English.
