Role Overview

In this role, you will partner with the Head of SHEQ to drive a proactive, client-focused compliance and assurance framework that ensures safety, quality, and performance standards are consistently met across all contracts. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to clients and operational teams, embedding a strong SHEQ culture through visible leadership, effective communication, and data-driven performance management. This position plays a key role in delivering continuous improvement, audit excellence, and operational compliance throughout the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working closing with Head of SHEQ to lead the delivery of a proactive, client focused compliance and assurance framework across all contracts, ensuring safety, quality, and performance standards are consistently met and exceeded
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing informed, solution-driven guidance on all health, safety, environmental and welfare matters, building confidence through expertise, transparency, and timely communication
  • Champion a positive SHEQ culture through active coaching, behavioural engagement, and visible leadership, embedding accountability and ownership throughout operational teams
  • Ensure client-specific SHEQ requirements are fully integrated into operational delivery plans, and that all documentation, processes, and reporting meet contractual and legislative standards
  • Contribute to and oversee the preparation of Project Health & Safety Plans
  • Lead the coordination and delivery of Toolbox Talks and communications
  • Provide operational and technical SHEQ support to Operations, collaborating closely with Contract Managers and Client Representatives to address issues, identify trends, and prevent reoccurrence
  • Support the continuous development and governance of the Company Business Management System, ensuring it remains aligned to client requirements, industry best practice, and audit findings
  • Embed SHEQ input across all project stages, from tender and mobilisation through delivery and close-out, ensuring client deliverables are achieved safely and compliantly
  • Manage the end-to-end audit and compliance process, ensuring timely completion, consistent quality, and meaningful feedback to both internal stakeholders and clients
  • Produce clear, data-driven audit reports and trend analysis for the Senior Management Team and clients, highlighting performance, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Lead and support investigations into incidents, non-conformances, and client concerns, ensuring thorough root cause analysis, transparent communication, and robust corrective actions
  • Hold regular performance and development reviews
  • Maintain full control of compliance case files and action tracking, ensuring timely close-out and visibility of progress to both senior management and clients
  • Oversee maintenance of all registers, records, and compliance documentation, ensuring integrity, traceability, and readiness for client or regulatory audit
  • Support and represent the business in client meetings, presenting SHEQ performance data, progress against action plans, and demonstrating continual improvement
Qualifications and Key Skills Required
  • Experience within the Gas and Electric Metering industry
  • Compliance with Gas Safe and MOCOPA standards
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Experience in secretarial or administrative work is desirable
  • Experience in planning activities is desirable
  • Experience in the installation and auditing of metering work
  • Experience using job management systems is desirable
  • Qualified in Single Phase 1 Rate and 2 Rate metering
  • Minimum gas qualifications of CCN1/CMA1 and MET1
  • 3 Phase certification is desirable
  • A full, clean driving licence
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification is desirable
  • NEBOSH General Certificate is desirable
