We are seeking a Quality Manager (Inspections), Navy Systems to join our federal team at York, PA (Grantley Plant) location. This position leads, and supervises all inspection personnel in the machine shop, CMM inspection, compressor assembly, weld shop, fabrication, assembly and shipping. This position also leads and supports the supervisor of weld inspection, fabrication and final assembly including final product acceptance. Total staff of approximately 25.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures a safe working environment and that employees are following all required safety and environmental practices and protocols.
  • Leads, mentors, and fosters a teamwork approach to supervising the inspection work team.
  • Ensures each employee satisfies all development and training requirements.
  • Provides workflow / priority guidance and manages personnel issues related to the inspector job classification.
  • Manages timekeeping and vacation scheduling for inspection work teams.
  • Works closely with operations and production supervisors to ensure customer commitments are met.
  • Provides communication to inspectors / production personal on customer issues.
  • Ensures the inspection activities are in compliance with customer requirements and the Quality Management System.
  • Leads, and participates in work team continuous improvement / kaizen activities, utilizing value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste. Works to identify opportunities to maximize product flow and lead time reduction in all work activities.
  • Works with Quality Engineering and may participate in the review of design, manufacturing, purchasing and test documentation to ensure that the design and customers requirements can be met on assigned products within the production environment.
  • Works closely with the Quality Engineers to develop systems and procedures to clarify engineering and quality work instructions and requirements.
  • Works closely with operations and production supervisor to support inspection of post rework, repair and remanufactured products.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Manages and coordinates Material Review Board activities to resolve quality issues.
  • Manages and establishes priorities in the gauge calibration lab, and CMM inspection area.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5 or more years of Manufacturing and Quality Personnel Supervision experience in heavy industrial, automotive, aerospace, or metal machining, welding and fabrication.
  • Proficiency in a Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software.
  • Demonstrated planning, problem solving, data analysis, GD&T, blueprint reading, organizing, inter-personal, and communication skills with proven leadership skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures, production methods (including machining and welding), shop standards, team building, SPC and modern quality assurance applications.
Additional Qualifications
  • Formal Lean and / or 6-Sigma training with significant demonstrated accomplishments a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of calibration systems and standards.
