Job Title: Quality Manager

Job Type: Days based, Perm

Hours: Flexible 37hr week with 2pm finish Friday

Pay: Circa £65,000

Our Client

Our client is a market leading Hydraulic Valve Systems manufacturing company. Within this site, they mainly specialise with Oil & Gas and Semi-Conductor. The company are constantly growing and their order book overflowing!

Main Duties
  • Management of the Barnstaple Quality Team (quality engineers, technicians and Star-point champions)
  • Required to manage all aspects of ISO 9001 and help maintain ISO 14001 (with a view to eventual management of both as an integrated management system)
  • Design and perform internal audits of the Quality and Environmental systems as related to documented procedures, work instructions, and the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 International Standards
  • Represent the company by interfacing with customers, assisting with internal and external audits
  • Help ensure the plant and personnel meet all Customer requirements with regard to quality, including the supply of documentation, information, after-sales care.
  • Managing Customer Concerns system (queries, complaints, requests)
  • Ensure compliance to specified quality requirements by performing in-house and supplier audits and survey, as well as leading programmes to improve supplier performance through actions and daily interactions
  • Help ensure personnel meet all requirements with regard to Safety, Health & Welfare legislation and Directives
  • Prepare reports by collecting, interpreting, analysing and summarizing data and making recommendations
  • Manage the department within budget.
  • Manage all aspects of internal HR (with the help of the HR dept)
  • Lead the ISO 9001 system to ensure zero non-conformances in 3rd Party Audits
  • Assist the ISO 14001 system to ensure zero non-conformances in 3rd Party Audits and meet all legislative requirements.
  • Help ensure the safety and wellbeing of all staff, operators and visitors to help ensure zero recordable accidents.
  • Monitor Supplier KPI’s in relation to quality, quantity, delivery, and price.
  • Help ensure all Targets, Goals, Strategies as defined by the Division Hoshin are completed.
  • Ensure all Kamishibai layered audits are completed and on time.
  • Perform statistical analysis to determine which process is responsible, and the cost associated, when products or materials do not meet required quality standards and specification.
  • Lead continuous improvement in the Barnstaple site
Subcontract Supplier Management
  • Develop, maintain and improve supplier relationships / performances by meeting with each one on a regular basis.
  • Quality management of Subcontractors per the QManual and SQRM, giving guidance and help where needed.
  • In conjunction with Supply Chain, develop initiatives and plans in order for the supplier to maintain lead-time reductions and relevant stock holding/ reduction initiatives.
  • Lead, design and demonstrate commitment to Supplier improvement projects.
  • Manage the Supplier Corrective Action Report programme
  • Act as the daily Point Of Contact for Subcontractors, including ensuring the movement of product to meet the demands of Supply Chain.
Miscellaneous
  • Perform other duties as may be necessary for the operation of the plant and as assigned by Division Manager.
  • Travel to other IPDE sites is required on an as-needed basis, as notified by the Division Manager. This travel could include (but is not limited to) leading training sessions, leading audits, CAPA closure.
The Candidate
  • Must have, or be willing to attain:
    • Internal Auditor ISO 9001 qualified
    • Minimum Level 6 qualification in Quality Assurance OR City & Guilds QA OR minimum 6 years direct vocational experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Preferable:
    • BSc / BA / H.Dip in a relevant discipline
    • 6 Sigma Green Belt
    • Thorough knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 14001 Auditor
    • Thorough knowledge of SHWW Acts and Regulations
