A global leader in specialty metals supply and distribution, supporting Aerospace, Defense, Industrial, Medical, Oil & Gas and other critical markets. The organisation maintains internationally accredited quality systems, including ISO 9001 and AS9100, and requires strong quality leadership within its UK distribution operations.
Purpose of Role
- Lead, manage and continuously improve the UK site's Quality Management System (QMS) across ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
- Coordinate internal and external audits to maintain certification readiness.
- Support operational teams to ensure compliance, traceability, and quality excellence throughout distribution and stockholding processes.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and ensure customer, regulatory and industry requirements are consistently met.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop the ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management System for the UK distribution site.
- Plan and conduct internal audits across processes, departments, and suppliers.
- Prepare for, coordinate, and support external certification audits.
- Manage non-conformance investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective & preventive actions.
- Oversee document control and ensure correct versioning, traceability, and accessibility of quality records.
- Monitor key quality metrics and drive continuous improvement programmes.
- Provide QMS and compliance training to site personnel.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including warehouse, procurement, logistics, and sales to embed quality practices.
- Interface with customers and suppliers on quality matters, including supplier qualification and customer audit support.
- Report quality performance, risks, and improvement actions to senior leadership.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Strong experience managing ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems within aerospace, precision engineering, manufacturing, or metals distribution/stockholding.
- Proven internal auditing experience and familiarity with certification processes.
- Solid understanding of non‑conformance management, root‑cause analysis, CAPA, and quality improvement tools.
- Strong organisational and document‑control skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence across departments.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and understanding of technical specifications.
Desirable
- Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001 and/or AS9100).
- Experience in aerospace supply chain, metals distribution, stockholding, or material certification/traceability environments.
- Knowledge of NADCAP or other aerospace supplier requirements.
- Experience with ERP/QMS software and supplier quality management programs.
- Understanding of metallurgical inspection, material testing, or aerospace‑specific documentation.
Success Measures
- UK site remains compliant and audit‑ready with minimal non‑conformities.
- QMS documentation remains current, controlled, and well‑implemented.Non‑conformances and customer complaints are resolved quickly with effective root‑cause actions.
- Measurable improvements in quality KPIs (e.g., defects, customer issues, supplier compliance).
- Strong engagement with quality processes across all departments.
- The UK site aligns effectively with global quality standards and supports aerospace customer expectations.

- Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum
