Quality Manager (with Health & Safety Experience)

About the Role

CNC Recruitment are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Manager with Health & Safety experience to join a well-established and growing manufacturing company based in Crewkerne.

This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional to take ownership of the company’s integrated management systems, drive continuous improvement, and play a key role in maintaining exceptional standards across both quality and safety operations.

Role Overview

As the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and improving the company’s Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with ISO standards, and leading initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency, and safety.

You’ll also take a lead role in managing health and safety practices across the business, promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
Experience operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) would be advantageous but not essential.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) to address quality issues and support continuous improvement.
  • Manage and analyse quality performance data, including customer complaints, non-conformances, and process improvements.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on products using a CMM where required, interpreting measurement data to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Provide training and guidance to production teams on quality procedures and best practices.
Health & Safety Management
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and implementing control measures.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness across all departments.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Maintain health and safety documentation, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
Continuous Improvement
  • Drive initiatives to improve product quality, reduce waste, and optimise manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to align quality and safety goals.
  • Support new product development by ensuring quality requirements are embedded at all stages of production.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience in a Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment (plastics experience advantageous).
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Experience in Health & Safety management, including risk assessments and UK compliance.
  • Experience with CMM equipment (advantageous but not essential).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to promote a quality-focused culture.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quality Management and/or Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, Six Sigma) desirable.

You’ll form part of the senior management team, reporting directly to the Operations Director and Chief Operating Officer.
