Quality Manager - Food Manufacturing

Telford – £45,000

A thriving family‑owned food business is seeking a Quality Manager to take full technical responsibility for their operations. Reporting to the Technical Director, this is a hands‑on role with autonomy to shape and implement robust Food Safety, Quality, and Compliance systems across the business.

You will be a driving force in maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality, ensuring that processes are efficient, effective, and consistently applied. Working closely with all departments, you will coach and develop team members, embedding a culture of excellence throughout the business.

What will you be doing?
  • Oversee Quality Assurance on‑site from raw materials to finished products.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve BRC and HACCP systems, maintaining AA grade.
  • Lead factory inspections to ensure GMP standards through cross‑functional teamwork.
  • Ensure all employees understand and follow food safety and quality systems.
  • Manage micro/chemical and nutritional testing as per schedule.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs, challenging and driving improvements.
  • Lead BRC and customer audits and site visits.
  • Manage non‑conformance procedures and complaint investigations, ensuring effective resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Product release management and shelf‑life optimisation.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) with technical expertise.
  • Conduct monthly hygiene audits and participate in weekly performance meetings.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure customer communications are aligned.
  • Undertake ad hoc technical duties as required.
What will you bring to the party?
  • Proven experience in quality management within a food manufacturing environment supplying UK retailers and brands.
  • Strong knowledge of BRC standards, QMS, HACCP (Level 3 minimum; Level 4 desirable), and internal auditing.
  • Experience managing audits, EHO visits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Demonstrable track record in improving food safety and quality.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills, with a hands‑on approach.
  • Commercially aware and customer‑focused, with a “can‑do” attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written English skills, with sensitivity to a multinational workforce.
