Quality Manager
Scantec Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading FMCG Food Manufacturing business at their flagship site in Harlow, we're assisting in their search for a Quality Manager.
Working Hours
40 hours per week
Monday - Friday - 9am - 5:30pm
Key Role Responsibilities
- Ensure food safety, legality, quality, and integrity for all customers through the development, implementation, and adherence to technical policies and procedures.
- Play an active role in achieving site accreditations by ensuring compliance and audit readiness for BRCGS and customer audits.
- Develop and implement robust traceability systems to ensure transparency, regulatory compliance, and full product traceability.
- Lead and manage pest control strategies within the food factory, protecting product integrity and maintaining a hygienic production environment in line with food safety standards.
- Oversee product testing to ensure food safety and environmental monitoring to ensure that the production environment does not contribute to contamination.
- Investigate customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective preventive actions to enhance customer satisfaction.
- Deliver training to site personnel on food safety, hygiene, and quality standards, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Consistently and proactively monitor and manage site trends and risks.
- Work closely with internal teams to boost food safety, compliance, provide technical guidance, and ensure cross‑functional alignment. Health & Safety Responsibilities.
- Ensure compliance with company health & safety, food safety, and quality assurance standards.
- Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly to the Production Manager or Shift Supervisor.
- Support the implementation of safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Participate in health and safety briefings and training sessions as required.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of food safety, legality, compliance, and quality standards within the food manufacturing industry.
- Proactive mindset with a “can‑do” attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on collaborative problem‑solving and delivering practical solutions.
- Previous experience in a technical or quality role within a food manufacturing environment.
- HACCP Level 3 or higher.
- Food Safety and Hygiene certifications level 3 or higher.
- Strong understanding of food safety systems (e.g., HACCP, VACCP, TACCP).
- Leadership and team development capabilities.
- Working knowledge of SAP system is advantageous.
